On hiatus until next week!

Ok, sorry kids I know I've been slacking on the posts! But it's just been pretty crazy at work lately! Between placing Fall '09 buys & working on Spring '10 (it still seems weird saying that)development I've been so frazzled! ahh!
Anywho, I'm leaving for Miami in the morning! So I'll catch you peeps later ;)

Thong Booties... would you wear them??

Me? depends on the styling, whether I'll wear it or not... so of course as I'm actually designing a few this season for work, I'm thinking about what I'd like to wear ;)
Brands such as Dolce Vita & Cocobelle have done them in a huge way with several styles.. Vanessa Hudgens was even seen wearing a pair by Chinese Laundry.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Ok kids, in celebration of our beautiful planet, I thought I'd share with you some fun & fabulous facts which may come as a shock!

* The garbage in a landfill stays for about 30 years.

* Each person throws away approximately 4 lbs. of garbage every day!?!

*Most families throw away about 88 pounds of plastic every year!

*We each use about 12,000 gallons of water every year

*1/3 of all water is used to flush the toilet.

*Recycling one aluminum can save enough energy to watch a TV for 3 hrs!! - it's equivalent to 1/2 a gallon of gasoline!

*Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22 in 1970, & April 22 is the 1st official day of Spring in the Northern hemisphere & of Fall in the Southern hemisphere, & was chosen to be Earth Day for this reason.

*If every newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year! Can you believe that??

*But unfortunately only 27% of all American newspapers are recycled :(

*More than 20,000,000 Hershey's Kisses are wrapped each day, using 133 square miles of tinfoil. All that foil is recyclable, but not many people realize it! Keep this in mind!

*Only 11% of the earth's surface is used to grow food.

Rattan Bangle in Raspberry from Verde Rocks- $16.00

*Rattan - In the forests where rattan grows, its economic value can help protect forest land, by providing an alternative to loggers who forgo timber logging and harvest rattan canes instead. Compared to most tropical wood, rattan is much faster growing. This makes it a potential tool in forest maintenance, since it provides a profitable crop that depends on rather than replaces trees.
*Fair Trade

THE JUMPSUIT

Now you might automatically be envisioning 70's disco queens, Studio 54, or Catwoman, but a ton of the Spring runways & trend reports have shown the jumpsuit as a key piece to your spring/summer wardrobe.

For this trend I think depending on the cut & material, the look can be quite cute :)  and an update to last year's romper.
Some of the trend fast stores (such as Forever 21) are retailing these looks at pretty reasonable prices, in many styles & materials for different body types. So if you're unsure if this look is right for you, you can at least try it without breaking your wallet!
Forever 21 beaded trim jumpsuit - $19.80

Forever 21 Denim jumpsuit - $24.80

I love this one! Too bad is 418 GBP!

Spring Trend: Huarache

Can you say.. Huarache!? (hur-ah-chee)
Well for those of you that don't even know what this is, let alone how to pronounce it.. let me fill you in...
Just a lil background info: Traditionally, Huaraches were handmade Mexican sandals with woven leather tops, around for hundreds of yrs, were popular amongst Mexican villagers & peasants.
But nowadays, these slip-on shoes can be found in an array of styles, colors & materials, ranging from classic to heeled sandals & flip-flops.
Check out some of Spring 2009's hottest huarache looks

I interrupt this regularly scheduled spring report..

to feature some Vegan thigh-high laser cut boots by Stella McCartney.
WHOA...
ladies & gentleman.. might I remind you.. this material is FAUX leather.. 'cuz the price sure doesn't make you realize it! This is a style from her Autumn '09 line.. and most of her boots are well over $1000!
Her line of clothing is animal-free, including the shoes, which, amazingly enough even forego PVC-based plastics in favor of materials derived from plants.
GO GREEN!
